Students from Brewbaker Middle School take part in a leadership- and team-building activity on Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, April 18, 2023. The activity for 7th and 8th graders was part of the Brewbaker Middle School Outreach Day, a collaboration between the Montgomery Public Schools, Air University Innovation Research Task Force and the AU Innovation Office. The day was organized as a way to connect a small portion of the civilian population with military members to help dispel any misperceptions about serving, especially since less than 1% of the U.S. population is serving on active duty.
