SAASS visiting professor Lina Svedin recently published the first two volumes in the Interdisciplinary Community-Engaged Research for Health series with the University of Cincinnati Press. As series editors, she and Farrah Jacquez invited researchers and practitioners from the prestigious and innovative Interdisciplinary Research Leaders program and the Culture of Health Leaders program to share their work to build resilience and promote healthy cultures in and around at-risk groups. This work reflects the inherently interdisciplinary nature of strategic thinking and the power of joining practical experience with research methods and evidence-based approaches to get traction on complex challenges. The team-based approaches to design and innovation featured in the books provide a rich catalog of how to create cultural shifts in ways that respect the lived experience and communities’ core values.
